
ELAINE M. ROSS, Ph.D.
Dr. Elaine M. Ross
is currently Coordinator of Music Theory and Composition at Central Washington
University (CWU) in Ellensburg, Washington. As a composer, she has had numerous
works performed at regional and national conferences throughout the United
States and in Europe. Most recently, her composition, Canyons for Woodwind
Quintet (2009), was the winner of the Sinfonia National Woodwind Quintet
Composition Competition. In 2008, Wildfire for Symphonic Winds, was a
selected work in the quarterfinal round of the Coups de Vent International Wind
Orchestra Competition in Lille, France. Elaine Ross has written works in several
different genres that are currently being performed by ensembles at leading
universities and fine arts schools throughout the country, including Central
Washington University, Southern Methodist University, the University of Miami,
Appalachian State University, the University of Minnesota-Morris, Texas Tech
University, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and St. Olaf College. In addition,
Dr. Ross presents, performs, and attends many CMS, SCI, and MENC conferences.
Elaine Ross is a member of ASCAP, SCI, American Composers Forum, and CMS and is
published by Southern Music Company, Sisra Press, and Triplo Press. Dr. Ross'

Dr. Ross
completed the Ph.D. in Fine Arts degree in music theory/composition at Texas
Tech University in 2005 and, prior to her appointment at CWU, served on the
music faculties of Cameron University as instructor of music theory,
composition, and saxophone and at the University of Michigan-Flint as
instructor of music theory, computer music technology. At both schools she also
performed as a frequent collaborative pianist for many faculty and student
performances. She also served as an Instructor of theory and musicianship and
collaborative pianist at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan from
1994–2001.
